life takes curious turns...and like a slalom racer speeding down a hillside - you need the skill and ability to go with them passing through each gate successfully moving closer to the goal.

Let's Talk story?

Anyone who knows me - knows I can talk story - lately though my most captivated audience fo talk with has been my son - and well he's beginning to understand language and words he's learning and how to craft some surprisingly witty -isms of his own...the conversation isn't shall we say rocket science. So i have found that I'm doing a hella lot more "self talk". That chattering to oneself - conversations about the moment, about thoughts, feelings, the future - where I've been - where I'm going. And well your mind is kinda a crazy thing to talk story with - cause once you open that up -- it's really hard to turn of the "portagee."

shoots
mtv new inferno is on and old timers are battling it out on the hang...goodbye cowboy...other reality tidbits that have tickled my noodle include - the mysterious early drop out of Mario V. from this season's AI competition...meanwhile - I'm doing my part to support 2nd runnerup Jasmine by getting her $1.99 debut Hawaii only CD single - it's on ebay already as very rare - signed copies are starting at $6.50 - there were already 6 bids on the item...maybe I should pick up a few more copies and list them....Hmmm? after that Starbuck's hula card that has earned one girl $3,000 in sales of even empty gift cards - it is indeed worth considering...also worth some thought my own dose of reality as we head to diamond head winery this weekend to put a cork in it - two batches of wine that is...still seeking out addresses for my guest list....37 cents postage is worth it considering driving around to deliver invitations will be at the Hawaii average high of $2.44/gallon for reg. unleaded...earlier this week I was out of gas -- a strange flu like virus that knocked me on my ass for two days along with headache, congestion, body aches, and sore throat...I can already tell I'm getting better - the insomnia is back...

Me & Paoakalani

Me & Paoakalani

Me & Paoakalani

I love this photo of my beautiful neice - after her graceful performance for the solo competition at the 2004 Queen Lili'uokalani Keiki Hula Competition. She dances with Halau Hula 'o Kamuela under the direction of Kumu Hula Kau'i Kamana'o. Her performance of Mele O Ke Ke'ena Kalaunu won over the audience and the judges top scores earning her the title of Miss Keiki Hula 2004. Paoa - all of your hard work and dedication and your love for our native art has only shown Hawaii Nei the beautiful soul that we already know. with love and aloha - aunty yvette

noteworthy Hawaiian sites
For those doing Hawaiian language or historical research - checkout the Hawaiian Electronic Library. Ulukau - considered the first Hawaiian e-library in the world has logged more than 1.8 million hits in it's first six months. the site enables keyword searches of more than 100 separate Hawaiian periodicals which were published between 1834 and 1948. Other Hawaiiana texts and literature are slated for addition to the sites vast body of knowledge. Mahalo nui!

Another valuable site for Hawaiian Cultural exploration is the KSBE site - Ka'iwakiloumoku - Hawaiian Cultural Center. The site named in honor of Hawaii's great king, Kamehameha I, offers a wide variety of cultural experiences through rich media, historical photos and documents, an interactive event calendar, recipes, health tips and an online journal.

just a few more days of planning before I need to put my DIY/ While "He" was Out project plan into action. A little nervous about it all as I didn't get to do all of the researching I needed to.

Still on the punchlist to figure out are the following projects:
1. Storage Boxes for upper shelf in closet - plastic or archival deco boxes
2. Build or install shelves in closet - wood or wire?
3. How to frame and mount the mirror on the wall
4. Window Treatments - blinds or just sheers
5. Carpet/Rug or Sisal mat?
6. Pick up and mount some display shelves on wall
7. Update the Cork Memo board
8. Dress up the office chair with a slip cover.

Sounds like a lot and it is....getting a little bit nervous - have to make headway tomorrow and finalize my wavering decisions on some of this stuff - still seeking helpers for the Saturday buildout. Let me know if you're interested.

Got to spend tomorrow and Wednesday purchasing supplies & storage bins- then the evenings starting to clear the room and the closet.

Want to get items cleared from the room by Friday night..but not sure I'll have the extra muscle to move the dresser, desk and armoire on that night...

I had a great conversation today with an old friend. She's on maui now and living upcountry...I hope to get over there to see her and another old friend...not sure If that will happen before I the spring is over though...today was an early day and I'm feeling better but still not 100% - the worst thing is I feel like I'm kinda falling apart - my eyeball just kept on twitching today - for now reason at all - all day!

a business associate today noticed the shiny thing on my finger for the first time. He commented that "he's a lucky man" in describing my fiance.

Love is...

A group of 4 to 8 year-olds were recently asked: "What does love
mean?" The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have
imagined...

When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint
her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even
when his hands got arthritis too. That's love. -- Rebecca - age 8

When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You
know that your name is safe in their mouth. -- Billy, age 4

Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne
and they go out and smell each other. -- Karl, age 5

Love is when my Mommy makes coffee for my Daddy and she takes a sip
before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK. -- Danny, age 7

Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen. -- Bobby, age 7

If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend
who you hate. -- Nikka, age 6

Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it
everyday. -- Noelle, age 7

My Mommy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing
me to sleep at night. -- Clare, age 6

Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken. -- Elaine,
age 6

Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford. -- Chris, age 7

Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone
all day. -- Mary Ann, age 4

I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old
clothes and has to go out and buy new ones. -- Lauren, age 4

When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars
come out of you. -- Karen, age 7

You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you
mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget. -- Jessica, age 8
