Me & Paoakalani
Me & Paoakalani
I love this photo of my beautiful neice - after her graceful performance for the solo competition at the 2004 Queen Lili'uokalani Keiki Hula Competition. She dances with Halau Hula 'o Kamuela under the direction of Kumu Hula Kau'i Kamana'o. Her performance of Mele O Ke Ke'ena Kalaunu won over the audience and the judges top scores earning her the title of Miss Keiki Hula 2004. Paoa - all of your hard work and dedication and your love for our native art has only shown Hawaii Nei the beautiful soul that we already know. with love and aloha - aunty yvette

noteworthy Hawaiian sites
For those doing Hawaiian language or historical research - checkout the Hawaiian Electronic Library. Ulukau - considered the first Hawaiian e-library in the world has logged more than 1.8 million hits in it's first six months. the site enables keyword searches of more than 100 separate Hawaiian periodicals which were published between 1834 and 1948. Other Hawaiiana texts and literature are slated for addition to the sites vast body of knowledge. Mahalo nui!
Another valuable site for Hawaiian Cultural exploration is the KSBE site - Ka'iwakiloumoku - Hawaiian Cultural Center. The site named in honor of Hawaii's great king, Kamehameha I, offers a wide variety of cultural experiences through rich media, historical photos and documents, an interactive event calendar, recipes, health tips and an online journal.

just a few more days of planning before I need to put my DIY/ While "He" was Out project plan into action. A little nervous about it all as I didn't get to do all of the researching I needed to.
Still on the punchlist to figure out are the following projects:
1. Storage Boxes for upper shelf in closet - plastic or archival deco boxes
2. Build or install shelves in closet - wood or wire?
3. How to frame and mount the mirror on the wall
4. Window Treatments - blinds or just sheers
5. Carpet/Rug or Sisal mat?
6. Pick up and mount some display shelves on wall
7. Update the Cork Memo board
8. Dress up the office chair with a slip cover.
Sounds like a lot and it is....getting a little bit nervous - have to make headway tomorrow and finalize my wavering decisions on some of this stuff - still seeking helpers for the Saturday buildout. Let me know if you're interested.
Got to spend tomorrow and Wednesday purchasing supplies & storage bins- then the evenings starting to clear the room and the closet.
Want to get items cleared from the room by Friday night..but not sure I'll have the extra muscle to move the dresser, desk and armoire on that night...

I had a great conversation today with an old friend. She's on maui now and living upcountry...I hope to get over there to see her and another old friend...not sure If that will happen before I the spring is over though...today was an early day and I'm feeling better but still not 100% - the worst thing is I feel like I'm kinda falling apart - my eyeball just kept on twitching today - for now reason at all - all day!
a business associate today noticed the shiny thing on my finger for the first time. He commented that "he's a lucky man" in describing my fiance.

a friend brought it to my attention that I haven't been on my toes with keeping up with this thing. so here is a entry - for whoever you are that visits this thing --- according to my sitemeter reports there's at least one person a day who visits each of my blogs - quite interesting - this has been going on for months now and there really hasn't been anything new to read. bizzarre. well I appreciate your faithful reading and will in the future try to have something new here for your reading pleasure on a regular basis.
today - I'm sick - that's been happening a lot lately...not liking it - not at all. it just throws a wrench in all the things I;m supposed to be doing... anyways - if you've got tips for how to stay healthy - then email me.
